I received my PhD in Psychology with an emphasis on clinical in 1966 from the University of Portland. Prior to that I worked two years in community mental health clinics and interned at the University Of Oregon Health Sciences (the medical school) for a year and afterwards completed another year there on a fellowship.
I then joined the faculty of the psychology department at San Jose State University where I was a tenured Associate Professor of Psychology and Counseling, directed a small community clinic at SJSU and trained beginning therapists.
In 1967 I obtained a marriage and family license and in 1969 my psychology license.
Also in 1967 I started a small part time practice.
I left SJSU in 1978 to enter full time practice. I also have been a consultant to several community clinics.
Currently, I am in practice about half time and choose not to retire because I love this work and it is a meaningful part of my life.
Every year I take several one or two day trainings to keep up with the latest findings in the field.
In 1998 my book for parents on how to manage difficult children was published. The title and link to Amazon is Ain’t Misbehavin’: The Ten Main Problems Parents Face and What To Do About Them.
